Fridge Problems

I’ve been trying to find out what is up with our fridge. It all started a little over a week ago. The fins in the back of the fridge frosted up. I defrosted the thing a few weeks ago and it was running fine until one morning I opened the door and noticed the fins covered in frost and our half gallon of milk was frozen.

I took everything out and defrosted the thin for most of the day.

I reloaded it and within a few hours it was frozen again!

We loaded up all our groceries and took them to the club house. We loaded the refrigerator in the kitchen and came back to defrost again. This time we defrosted for the entire day.

We turned it back on before going to bed and woke up the next morning to a frozen  fridge !!!!!
We tried everything. We put it on the lowest setting, we tried it on propane, we made sure the drain tube was not stopped up.

I made a few phone calls and found one RV parts place that had a thermostat for our Norcold fridge.
It cost $23.00 with tax.

We came back to the fiver and I removed the old thermostat and installed the new one.
Next morning we have frost on the fins but it’s not frozen. We now have it set on the lowest setting and it seems to be working fine for now.

If it doesn’t start working right soon, I’ll have to throw in the towel and have a professional look at it.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

SandFest

This weekend was Sandfest in Port Aransas. We waited until today to go take a look. This way we didn't have the 100,00 + people that attend this event.

We took the fur kids to the beach to see the sand sculptures.

The wind was blowing like there's no tomorrow! We have sand in everything!!!!!!

Spring Cleaning & Tires

We’ve been busy doing some spring cleaning. We’ve defrosted the frig. Waxed our counter tops and wiped down the ceiling.

Wednesday we drove to Corpus Christi to Discount tire. Awhile back I noticed we had a bubble on the side wall of our front drivers tire.  We found a discount tire that had just opened for business. We bought these tires from discount tire in Rockwall about a year ago. The manager looked it over and said there was definitely a bubble. He said it appeared to be at the seam.  No problem, they agreed to replace it. We also had the tire rotated while we were there. We love doing business with them.

Thursday our friends Jim and Marsha pulled out heading home to Wisconsin. The park is starting to look very bare now. Now there are only a few people from the winter left. The summer people are still moving in one trailer at a time.

On Friday night we joined some other people at the club house for a birthday shrimp boil. Dawn made gumbo and Bobbi made broccoli salad. We had a mess of food! Marg made a wonderful berry upside down cake. There was about sixteen of us and we had food left at the end of the evening. Jim the birthday boy was surprised!

Abby always helps me when I'm at the computer.

Surviving the Storm

Rockport, Texas
Weather Condition; High 73, Low 68,

It’s spring time, and means spring storms. The weather was pleasant when we went to bed last night.

The 10:00 P.M news weatherman predicted we would have scattered thunderstorms starting sometime in the night.

Well, he was right! The severe thunderstorms started around 1:30 A.M. It thundered so loud it woke us up from a sound sleep. The wind blew, the rain flooded down from the sky and the hail came and went several times. The cloud to ground lightening was so frequent that all you could hear was a constant rumbling. The lightening was hitting the ground all around us. The sound was so loud we covered our ears many times after seeing the lightening outside our windows.

We turned on the T.V to the weatherman reporting serious flooding in the coastal area and a potential for tornadoes.

We sat in the living room with our eyes glued to the T.V. Several times the electricity went off for a few minutes.

There was more than one occasion that we thought the lightening would fry us to a crisp. Of course, in an RV the storms are more unnerving!

We had friends from the Dallas area sending us text telling us we needed to take cover because the weather radar was showing some really bad stuff in our area.

At 6:00 A.M our neighbors called to tell us they had gone to the club house to take cover. The weatherman was reporting a possible tornado had touched down in Portland, TX. Portland is fifteen miles south of our location. He went on to say that we were under a tornado warning for the next few hours.

We didn’t really feel safe running out in the lightening and pouring rain to go the club house that was full of windows. The club house doesn’t really have a safe area to get in. The place is full of windows and the restrooms are on the end of the building located on outer walls. We felt like we’d just stay put.

At 8:00 A.M the local news man was saying the tornado warnings had expired but we were now under a flash flood warning. Flash Flood! Good Lord, it had already rained almost 3 inches since midnight.

This afternoon’s news showed pictures of the tornado damage and flooding that took place all around us.

I’m very HAPPY to say that all is well with us and the storms have moved out to the gulf.

Dawn and I are extremely tired and will be going to bed early!

Another Week Gone

Another winter Texan pulled out this week. Our friend Anita pulled out Sunday morning.

That leaves only a few winter Texans left.

Dawn and I have been doing some house cleaning, laundry and visiting with a few friends that remain here.

Yesterday we drove over to Port Aransas. We spent a little time on the beach soaking up some sun and listening to the crashing waves.

The dolphins were busy playing in the water in front of the ferry.

Goliad, Texas

Dawn and I took a little road trip yesterday. We left Rockport and drove Business  Highway 35 to Highway 239. Normally there isn't much to look at driving that route. It's mostly large farms with plowed fields and grazing pastures with cows. Yesterday was different. The drive was beautiful because of the miles and miles of wild flowers.

The drive from Rockport to Goliad is approximately 70 miles. We stopped along the way and took pictures of wild flowers and windmills.

We decided to go ahead and stop by the Goliad State Park and check it out. I'm so glad we did. It is a very cool state park. The rangers are very friendly and welcoming. Thanks Dennis and Donna for telling us to check it out.

We toured the mission. WoW! this mission is really something to see.

We look forward to returning when we have more time to really enjoy our surroundings.
