Christmas Visitors

Rockport, Texas
Weather Conditions; Cloudy, 57 degrees

We sure hope that everyone had a great Christmas. We did.

My son drove down from Oklahoma with his girl-friend and her teenage daughter.

They arrived Christmas morning.

Dawn spent two days cooking a big Christmas meal. She cooked ham, turkey, fruit salad, candied yams, rolls, cheesy potatoes, shrimp, corn casserole, coconut pie, cranberry cake, lemon pound cake and pecan bars.

After opening gifts and having lunch the kids went back to their hotel for a nap.

We had plenty of leftovers.

This is the first Christmas we’ve spent with my son in a long time.

On Saturday we drove over to Port Aransas and had lunch. We filled our stomachs with pizza from the buffet at Port A Pizzeria.

We were able to catch a shot of a few dolphins playing in the water near the ferry.

We visited the beach. It was windy but we spent some time enjoying the warm weather.

We strolled through one of the souvenir stores on the island.

We also visited the Big Tree and drove around the area to site see.

Afterwards we stopped at Dairy Queen for ice cream.

The kids returned the following day for lunch. We served a mexican food lunch.

Dawn and I made enchiladas and rice. We also had chips and cheese dip.

The kids went to the Rockport Aquarium and the Maritime Museum.

The kids had to leave on Monday morning. We hated to see them go so soon.

We really enjoyed our visit with them.

Weekend Visitor

Rockport, Texas
Weather Conditions; Cloudy, 75 degrees

We had a visitor. Our very good friend Paula came for a weekend visit.

Paula had never been to Rockport so we wanted to show her as much as possible in two days.

She arrived Friday evening and we were up until midnight talking.

Saturday morning we had breakfast and then jumped in the car for site seeing.

The weather was beautiful so we went downtown Rockport to see what was going on. We stopped off at the Market Days area and strolled through to see what the vendors had to offer

We drove to Goose Island State Park. We drove through the park and looked at the camp sites in the woods and the sites on the beach.

We drove over to the Big Tree too. The picture doesn’t do this tree justice. This tree is massive.

As we were leaving the Big Tree area we noticed the whooping cranes in the pasture across the road. It was hard to get a decent picture because they were so far away from the road.

There were many whooping cranes and Sandhill cranes hanging out in this pasture.

We drove around Fulton and Rockport showing Paula the sites.

We stopped off in Fulton at Moon Dogs for a late lunch.

They have these crazy bar stools and we had to get our pictures made with them!

We went back to downtown Rockport and strolled through the Main Street shops.

We returned home to grab our lawn chairs and then back downtown for the Tropical Lighted Christmas Parade.

The parade was great and lasted about forty-five minutes.

We returned home after the parade for a glass of wine, cheese and crackers.

On Sunday we drove over to Port Aransas so we could play on the beach.

Again the weather was absolutely beautiful. We hung out on the beach for a couple of hours before moving on down the road.

We stopped off at Mustang Island State Park and showed Paula around. We also walked on the beach while there.

From there we drove towards Corpus Christi. We stopped by Snoopy’s for a late lunch.

Dawn and I ate at Snoopy’s about fifteen years ago. It’s still a great place to eat.

It was late when we got home.

We had more wine with cheese and crackers.

Paula had to leave Monday morning. We can’t wait for her to visit again.
