Our Time in Rockport

North Texas
Weather Conditions; Cold & Rainy

I haven’t posted anything in a while because things got crazy for us.

Dawn and I spent the last year and half in Rockport, Texas. Rockport is a favorite place for us. We love the small town vibe and the friendliness of the people.

After spending many winters in the little town of Rockport, we decided to stay a summer too and see what it was like.

The Rockport population noticeably shrinks once the Winter Texans leave. Even though is a small town, there is always something going on.

Whooping Crane Festival
Oysterfest

Market Days
Sandhill Crane Festival
Gospel Music Festival
Lamardi Gras
Nautical Flea Market
Festival of Wines
Fishing Tournaments
Art Festival
Hummingbird Celebration
Rockport Sea fair
Tropical Christmas & Parade

That’s just to name a few.

We’ve met a lot of people and made a lot of really great friends while wintering in Rockport.

We finished our gate attendant gig in North Texas in the fall of 2015 and migrated to Rockport, Texas.

We stayed at a different park with the urging of some friends. This park was in a country sitting with little amenities but we liked it. We hit it off with the owners and became fast friends.

We met more people and made more great friends. We attended pot luck dinners, ladies luncheons and other holiday parties and get-togethers.

When spring rolled around the park emptied except for a few and the summer was HOT.

We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of the area. After much discussion we decided we might just stay.
