Easter Explosion, Maybe!

Someone did a BAD thing to our neighbors site. It looks like the Easter bunny exploded all over their yard!

Last night was a full moon

Driving Tour and Dinner with Friends

Rockport, Texas
Saltwater Flats RV Resort
Weather Condition; High 82 Low 58, Sunny

The weather has been warm and windy here in south Texas.
We spent an afternoon exploring by doing a driving tour. We left Rockport and drove over to Port Aransas, at Port Aransas we drove on the beach for many miles.

Not much going on at the beach because of the wind. We did see a lot of kites flying.

From there we drove over to Mustang Island state park. The park has 48 RV camp sites with 50 amp and water.

We weren’t impressed with the sites. It looked like a parking lot with RV’s parked around the outer area. They are parked very close together. Not our cup of tea!
We drove through the park and walked along the beach.

From there we drove to Padre Island. From there we drove back to Corpus Christi. In Corpus we stopped at Texas Road House and had an early dinner.

 My steak was wonderful.

On Saturday our friends (Marti and Gloria) from North Texas pulled into Rockport. Their friends (David and Betty) are traveling with them.
The 6 of us went to dinner at Charlotte Plummer’s Seafood in Fulton.

Dinner was great and the company was even better.

Port Aransas Mardi Gras Parade

Rockport, Texas
Saltwater Flats RV Resort
Weather Condition; High 74 Low 44, Sunny

The sun is shining and we’ve been out and about.
On Tuesday we spent the day running errands. We had to get some paperwork notarized for our summer gate attendant jobs. We drove to Rockport City Hall and a nice lady there notarized it for us.

We returned home and emailed all our paperwork to the necessary people. Finally, I think we’re finished with that.

Later in the day, Dawn, Marsha, Anita and I drove over to Port Aransas for the Mardi Gras parade.  We were told it was a fun parade.
We drove over early enough so we could get a good place. We found a great corner near where the parade started. We sat in our chairs and watch people until the parade started.

The Port Aransas Mardi Gras parade is made up of mostly decorated golf carts. The parade lasted about an hour and was a lot of fun.
After the parade we drove to Dairy Queen for dinner.

While we were gone to the parade someone strung beads all over our site. We think we might know who the robed bandit might be!

Last night Dawn, Pauline and I drove over to Port Aransas to Kody’s for dinner. On Wednesday night they have All-You-Can-Eat shrimp for $12.99. They start serving at 3:00. We got there a little before 4:00.

They serve some BIG shrimp! It was delicious. The shrimp is fried and served with fries and coleslaw.

I could only eat one order (6). Dawn had 12 and Pauline 10. We were STUFFED.
After dinner, we drove over to the beach. Dawn and Pauline walked over a mile while I took pictures.

This morning we got up early. We drove our friend Judy to the Corpus Christi airport. She’s flying
home a week or so. We then drove her husband, Peter to the eye doctor for a checkup. He had cataract surgery yesterday.
After the doctor checkup we went for breakfast at IHOP.

We have a squirrel that’s terrorizing our fur kids. He doesn’t seem to be afraid of the dogs at all. He sometimes climbs the tree beside the fiver and looks in the window at the dogs.

Up on Blocks

Rockport, Texas
Saltwater Flats RV Resort
Weather Condition; High 67 Low 59, Damp and Cloudy

We have been extremely busy getting things done around here.

We had to locate a surety bonding company so we could get the required VIP Bond for our summer gate attendant job. We didn’t know anything about surety bonds until we bid on this job.  We made a few phone calls and found an insurance agency in Rockport that had a underwriter that writes surety bonds. We stopped by the insurance office and talked with an agent.  We explained to her what we needed and she made a phone call. She said she had an underwriter that could do the surety bond. We were given an application to fill out.

We went home, filled out the application. The following morning we returned the application to the insurance office.
Next we needed to replace the tires on the trailer. We did some research and decided to get our tire at Discount Tire. We buy our truck tires from them, so why not!

Several days went by and we still hadn’t heard anything from the insurance company regarding the bond. Dawn was starting to get nervous that maybe we were not going to get bonded. I told her, there wasn’t any reason we wouldn’t. She still worried anyway.
I called the agent on Friday morning and left a message. We ran a few errands and did some housekeeping. At 4:30 the phone rang. It was the agent telling me that the bond would cost $100.00 and that we needed to pay for the bond up front.

Dawn and I jumped in the truck and ran to the agent’s office which closes at 5:00.

Now back to the tires, we got a quote for our tires at Craig’s Tires in Rockport. We then called Discount Tire and got a quote from them. Looks like Discount Tire is about $40.00 cheaper per tire.
We talked with Daryl and scheduled a day that he could take our tires off the trailer so we could go to Discount Tire in Corpus Christi. That’s the nearest store to us.

On Monday, Daryl showed up and jacked up the trailer and loaded the tires into the truck for us.

You know we’re a Red Neck when your trailer is sitting on blocks!!!

While we were gone a rumor went through the park that our tires were repoed!  Thanks Marsha.
We decided to go with the Yokohama Geolandar tires.

We sat at the window and watched as they worked on replacing our tires.  It normally doesn’t take long at Discount Tire but we were lucky enough to get the new kid in the tire shop.  We watched him take our old tires on the rims and install new valve stems. He then put the new tires on and go them all aired up. He had the new tires lined up ready for the spin balance machine that was in use, when the shop foreman walked over and started removing the valve stems. Dawn and I looked at each other and said “What The Heck!”

The kid started the procedure all over again.  We watched as he redid each tire. Once he was finished, he started with the spin balance. He seemed to struggle with the spin balance machine. The shop foreman went over and helped him with a couple of the tires. We noticed that in all the confusion, one of the tires was put on the machine and then taken off without being spin balanced.
When it was time for us to load up the tires, we told the kid that one was not spin balanced. I showed him which one got skipped. He told me they were all done and I explained to him that we were watching and knew what happened. He took it back and ran it through the machine. Dawn noticed that all the tires were 2012 except for one. She told the foreman she wanted all of the tires to be 2012’s. They grabbed it up and replaced it. We had to wait a little longer but we got what we wanted.

We returned home about 2:30 and waited about 15 minutes for Daryl to return and put our new tires on the trailer.

We are so very, very glad to have new tires on our rig. We feel safer already!

Super Bowl Party and Friends

Rockport, Texas
Saltwater Flats RV Resort
Weather Condition; High 82 Low 63, SUNNY

We’re often asked what fulltime RVers do with all their time. Believe it or not, we do stay pretty busy. Even though we are retired and full time RVers, we still have housekeeping chores to do. We have laundry, grocery shopping and house cleaning. When those items are taken care of, then we go out and play or just lay back and take it easy.
However, some of our neighbors are so laid back they don’t even bother to get dressed until later in the morning!

Yesterday we had a super bowl watching party here at the park.

Dawn and Anita spent the morning cleaning the clubhouse. They swept the floors and cleaned the restrooms. This park doesn't have fulltime staff  so they decided to clean the clubhouse.
They also hung blue tarps over a few of the windows. In the late afternoon the sun beams in through the windows and it makes it hard to see the TV.

Everyone brought an appetizer or a dessert. We had food galore!  About 36 people showed up for the party.
Steve and Mary Lou furnished margaritas. There was a long line for the that beverage!

Here's our friend Bob with his margarita. He's a HAPPY BOY!

Dawn put together a football pot and all the squares sold. The pot paid $50.00 per quarter.

Everyone had a great time.

Never a Dull Moment

Rockport, Texas
Saltwater Flats RV Resort
Weather Condition; High 84 Low 55, SUNNY

The weather has been absolutely wonderful this week.
Let’s see, last Friday we went to the Corpus Christi RV show with our friends Bob and Pauline. That was fun!

We stopped for lunch at Golden Corral first. We all stuffed ourselves like little pigs.

Dawn and I found a few fifth wheels we’d like to have. Dawn fell in love with this rear kitchen model.

Wednesday was our monthly Ladies Luncheon. Fourteen of us drove over to Portland to the Blue Willow Tea Room.

Everyone loved it! They started us off with warm spiced tea and tea biscuits. After lunch they served strawberry cupcakes.

Later that night, Dawn kicked butt at card BINGO! She won two games and I won one. We came home with about $15.00.
There has been a little foul play happening at this RV park. I caught these people swiping these nice potted plants from our neighbors while they were gone.

You can see that this woman was shocked when she realized she had been caught in the act

They replaced them with a couple of coffee cans painted the same color with silk flowers in the pots.

The neighbors noticed the switch as soon as they pulled up. It was all in good FUN!

There’s never a dull moment around here!
Dawn and I drove over to Port Aransas yesterday. We stopped in at a couple of shops and then went to the park and watched for dolphins.

Dawn and I took a couple of friends over to Butter Churn for dinner last night.  We had a great meal. It’s buffet so you never leave hungry!
