Planning for Garage Sales

We are now getting to the real serious part of sorting things out. We have made a schedule for all the garage sales and noted the last date open for catering. The catering business has been really slow this year. I suppose it is the economy or maybe a sign! We have made up our minds and marked a date on the calendar for the end of Southern Comfort Catering.

Now we are going to spend a lot of time unloading a lot of things that we will no longer need or want. We have a large bedroom full of catering supplies we can get rid of. We have 100 plates, 100 bowls, 100 dessert plates and 100 dessert bowls for starters. That doesn't include all the chaffing dishes and serving bowls, trays, dispensers and such. We have been collecting this stuff for several years and it has kind of taking over the house. We should not have any problem getting rid of the catering stuff.

We will have a guest bedroom again!

Interior Almost Complete

The interior of the fifth wheel is almost complete. We have finished up the window valances, recovered the headboard, recovered some lamp shades and hung a new curtain in the kitchen window.

We are very please with it and I can guarantee no one else has one like it! It now feels like a real home.

I will be posted pictures of the final touches in the next couple of days.

More Interior Changes

BEFORE We have replaced the dining table with a small wing-side table we already had. Having this type of table bolted to the floor is almost the same as a booth. the person seating nest to the wall can't get up with moving the person sitting on the outside.

We also replaced the heavy dining table chairs. It just so happened that our table matched the interior wood of the cabinets. Our new arrangement will allow us to seat four around the table comfortably. We can pull it out in the middle of the floor if we like.

AFTER

It can even be moved to the corner with the sides down and take up very little space.

Wheels in Motion

We are beginning the process of getting things in order. We have started some real serious cleaning around the house. We are very fortunate to have a friend with a dumpster. I never thought I would admit it but It has become one of our favorite places to visit. It is surprising how much garbage two middle aged women can accumulate around the house. We are finding things we haven't used in ages. Some of the items we are not sure where they came from. Our plan is to throw out what we can't sale or give away.

I spent a very exciting Sunday evening in front of the shredder. I spent three hours going through old files. At the end of the evening I had six trash bags of shredded junk. I feel lighter already. This calls for another visit to the dumpster.

It is true that you will feel a weight lifted once you purge the excess garbage from your life. It has been a struggle to convince others of that theory. I won't mention any names! Some people have this theory, "better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it!"

We only have about eighteen months to get our butt in gear in order to live full time in the fifth wheel. I can see many garage sales and many more trips to the dumpster in our future!
