We
haven’t posted lately because we’ve had a lot going on. Life in general can
keep us pretty busy at times.
Dawn’s
brother–in-law pasted away. Philip was only 55 years old. He battled with lung
cancer last year. He had to have part of one lung removed and went through
chemo and radiation. He was getting back on his feet and was working full time
as a diesel mechanic. A few months ago he developed pneumonia and spent a few
days in the hospital. He recovered and went back to work.
A
couple of weeks ago he started feeling bad and was readmitted to the hospital.
He had developed some sort of lung infection and the doctors couldn’t determine
what it was. He spent a little more than a week in ICU before passing away.
Dawn’s
only remaining aunt celebrated her 100th birthday. Seventeen days later she passed
away.
The
weather has warmed up and that has increased the day use activity here at the
park.
Today
a woman stop by the gatehouse and asked if her kids (who are not old enough to
have a driver’s license) could enter the park on a golf cart with their jet
ski’s to launch at our ramp.
The
answer would be “NO”. First of all, all the boat ramps on this lake are closed
because the water levels are so low. There is a forty foot gap between the end
of the ramp and the water.
Second
of all, golf carts are not legal vehicles to drive on the roads here and
lastly, we don’t want to babysit your kids.
I
had a man in his sixties stop by here and ask what time of year we open the boat
ramps.
I
wanted to ask if he lived under a rock!
Almost every night on the local news they report the severely low water
levels of the lakes.
This
entire Dallas area has been suffering drought status and has been on water
restriction for over a year.
People
seem more concerned with where they’re going to launch their boat then what’s
happening to our drinking water source!

I just had to rant, I just wonder about these people sometimes.
The
fur kids got a new stroller. It’s a Roadster Stroller. It holds up to a 100
pounds and all three of them can ride in it.
It
snaps together easily and is light weight.
The kids like even when it's folded up!
We'll be done with this winter’s gate attendant gig the end of March. Dawn and I
have been doing some spring cleaning. We bought new truck tires and had the oil changed.
Now we're trying to decide which way we will be
heading when we pull out of here.
We
have been looking over our maps and trying to decide where to go and where to
stop along the way.
