Trailer Tire Blow-Out

We pulled out of Daingerfield State Park yesterday about noon. We made it about 6 miles out of town when we had a trailer tire blow-out.

It did some body damage too

We made it to Rockwall safe and sound after roadside assistance changed our flat.

We are now waiting for our insurance adjuster to look it over.

  1. Have you ever considered a Tire Pressure Monitoring System?

I never believed in anything but a good old tire guage each day before we hit the road and checking the tires visually at every stop. While attending an Escapees Rally one of the presentations was about TPMSs and Kathy thought they would be a good idea. That was two years ago and it has saved us three times to date. Well worth the investment and no damage to either of our trailers. Now I highly recommend them. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. That’s a very thoughtful suggestion, Rick and Rousseau! Since Cz2 is a traveling couple, a TPMS can lessen everyday worry of dealing with a tire blowout; if not to increase the safety and fuel efficiency of their mobile home as well. It is easy to ensure properly inflated tires, but it wouldn’t be as easy to monitor its contact to the road and traction. I would very much love to hear your side on this Cz2. :) Safe travels! -->Michelina

  2. I hate when that happens!..We had 3 blowouts on our first fiver, a Keystone Cougar...What rotten tires they put on that thing...Glad you and Dawn are safe and sound, that's all that really counts!

  3. Happy to hear you're both o.k. after the blowout. They can be quite dangerous. The rig damages can, and will, be fixed up good as new.

  4. Ugh! We switched our brand new factory tires for upgraded ones within the first couple days of hitting the road. We also have a Pressure Pro system on all our tires. Both of those will not prevent blow-outs, but I guess can help. Where did I hear - "it's not if you will get a blow-out, but when?"
Doesn't make me feel safer :)
